2012 Stohr WF1 For Sale

It’s been a great 3 years, but my next project is calling and I need to make some space in both my garage and brain! I’ve worked hard to restore and upgrade this car to the best of my ability.  When I bought this car, I took it down to an empty chassis and worked back with every bit of wiring, plumbing, hardware, etc were replaced.  The data is clear that this car can reliably generate 2.75G of cornering or braking force in good conditions, and combined with its light weight of ~850lbs, the high revving engine, and paddle air shifting, the car is a truly incredible experience to drive.

Check out the overall track record at Ridge Motorsports Park in-car on my YouTube!

The car is located in Vancouver, Canada about 1 hour from the border.  With a completed sale, I will legally import the car back into the US at my cost, and can meet you or your vehicle transport in Blaine, Washington.

I am asking $48,000 USD as it rolled off the track with all spares and related accessories I have, picked up in Blaine Washington.  It will need regular maintenance for next season – change fluids, chain, inspect consumables, etc – but otherwise I would be happy to take it back on track tomorrow.

There are a small number of upgrades/options that the new buyer does not need to take, if they’d prefer to reduce the price:

  1. Replace the custom designed CNC WF1 / Tilton 900 pedal box & pivoting master pedal assembly with normal Stohr WF1 components and the used standard master cylinders I had: $1,500 USD price reduction
  2. Remove the Motec PDM16 power module and L120 / D153 dash logger setup and replace with standard fuses/relays and a wiring connector ready for the installation of data of your choice: $2,500 USD price reduction.
  3. Do not include the spare 2016 S1000RR engine: $2,000 USD price reduction

Car Details

Currently, this car fits legally into the SCCA P1 road race category based on its full tunnel floor, large dual element rear wing, air shifting, PFC monoblock brake calipers.  To be fully class prepared, the car can have the engine modified – it’s currently completely internally stock and offers comparable performance to a modified 2006-2008 1L motor or a stock 2015+ 1L motor while offering factory reliability.

This car could also become an excellent and cutting edge SCCA P2 car with some modest changes.  The floor can have “blockers” installed which can allow it to be P2 legal and the second element from the rear wing removed.  The PFC brakes on the car can easily be sold to cover most if not all of the cost of the current Wilwood Stohr Radial P2 kit.  The final change is to remove the air shifting and reinstall a manual shift cable – I ran the car in this configuration for 2 years and the Motec will seamlessly still allow for flat up and down shifts which is works great.

Driveline/Electronics

The motor is a bone stock 2017 BMW S1000RR motor making approximately 175rwhp, revving to 14,200rpm, with sequential paddle shifting using an air shifter.  It has a custom wet sump CNC oil pan which is lightweight and the data is clear that there are no issues with oil pressure under 2.75+G in braking or cornering.

The car runs a Motec M130 ECU with US Sports Car firmware – this provides everything to run the engine, full paddle shifting capability, advanced datalogging, in one reliable package.  The car has a complete mil-spec engine harness along with spare potted autosport cam sensor.  The airbox removes with integral wiring for easy servicing.

The car also runs a Motec PDM16 power distribution module instead of fuses and relays which provides for more reliability under vibration, analysis tools to identify possible electrical issues in advance, and logging.  I run a Motec L120 logger along with a Motec D153 display on the dash.

The car comes with a complete, used replacement motor – I have run the motor in the car for 3 years with no reliability issues and don’t see any reason why that would change, but it’s always good to have a replacement.  I also have a spare set of throttle bodies with injectors, some spare electrical sensors, etc.

The car had a rebuilt Williams differential installed in 2022 direct from Stohr/Williams which is inside a complete custom new spar assembly installed in 2023 with new CNC engine mounts for stiffer mounting at lighter weight.  Comes with a number of spare sprockets, some new, some used.

The car comes with a spare Williams complete differential, functional as-is but should be expected to be rebuilt for optimal performance.

Aero

The front splitter on the car is ~10 hours old and is the latest and greatest design available from Zebulon/Hurley Racing Products and is a significant improvement of ~1s/lap over my prior, at a ~$5,000 USD cost.  This is the same design as on the winning P1 and P2 Stohrs at the runoffs in the last few years.

The tunnel floor on the car is a West floor and was bought new before my ownership but is generally in above average condition with only one repair, on the leading edge.  My experience with this floor is that it is less sensitive to pitch than the standard WF1 floor which makes it more forgiving to drive.

The rear wing is a large fully carbon Hurley dual element design with new CNC uprights for 2022, anodized black.  I planned for new end plates this winter as these ones are functional but could be lighter and better looking.  I have “ankle cutters” included with the car that I did not use for the 2023 season, but would probably reinstall for 2024 if I was going to keep the car.

Suspension/Brakes/Wheels & Tires

The car comes with Ohlins TTX36 double adjustable shocks, a significant upgrade over the base WF1 components.  They have not been rebuilt in my ownership, about 40 hours of use, and I was planning either this winter or next to have them rebuilt.  0 fluid leakage, all adjusters work perfectly.  I have 4 sets of springs that I use to combine for 3 optimized setups depending on track, 2 sets on car and remaining 2 sets are included.  I will finish replacing all 12 aluminum suspension clevis mounts before sale of car (I replace these every 2 years) as well as 6 new titanium rub pucks under the floor (as needed, generally 1 set per season).

The car has PFC Monoblock brake calipers and floating vented discs all around.  These are also significantly stiffer and lighter than the standard Stohr/Wilwood offering, though are not P2 legal.  Lots of pad material left, front rotors measure fine but there is some fine cracking starting to be visible through the drilled holes.

I bought 2 brand new sets of Jongbloed wheels – 13×8.5 front, 13×10.5 rear – which are both included with the car.  Both sets got brand new Hoosier radial tires in 2023, and each has had 2 events run on them.  For track day or practice use, you could easily run a year on the tires included, of course for optimum performance, a new set would be nice.  (mid season photo from when they were installed, just for reference)

The pedal box is a significant development project that I partnered with Lee Alexander, the owner of the fastest Stohr in circulation and multi-runoffs winner.  We wanted to have access to the highest quality Tilton 900 pedal components which have a significant improvement in braking performance, but with a bolt-in Stohr frame so it would fit perfectly in the car and not add any weight or require chassis modifications.  We designed, manufactured, and have both run these pedal boxes for 2 years.  As a reference point – a stock Tilton 900 pedal box is $2830USD, plus we had a CNC frame built and the highest end master cylinders are another $300 each.
